Shadows Move
This work evokes the colour and chaos of the city, inspired by the photograph as it seemed so full of life and action, the feeling of being swept along in the crowd to an unknown destination. The shadows have been highlighted as the black and white image felt, itself, like a shadow, perhaps a shadow or metaphor for the chaos of our lives - particularly before the enforced break that 2020 unexpectedly brought.
The work uses fabric paints and metallic thread worked with free machine embroidery.
